What happens to implants and prosthetic after death

Most prosthesis after use are sent to Ghana for cleaning and use over there. Also, most implants are not removed after death. While cremating they only remove the metal implants. Organisations in the last few years have been  recycling these materials. All ICDs (internal cardiac defibrillators)  are removed before cremation because they hold electronics. One company is trying to get FDA approval to reuse internal cardiac defibrillators and pace makers.
